Is Namie Amuro the queen of hiphop in Japan? I don’t think so. They call her that over here, but I can think of much better hiphop artists like Double, Heartsdales, and M-flo to name a few. However, on the cover of magazines, Amuro is the queen. She’s featured in the latest issue of Blenda. By the way, if you haven’t heard of Blenda, you should. It’s one basically a step or two up from EGG, Cawaii, and Ranzuki Magazine. The age range is probably from early 20’s up to mid 30’s. It’s a great magazine with a lot of great material on fashion in Japan. One main reason I have been picking it up is due to the fact that much of the content is similar to what is found in Egg. However, I think Blenda does a better job of find good models and the model shoots are just gorgeous. If you ever have a chance to pick up a copy of Blenda, go for it. If you are a big Egg, Ranzuki, or Cawaii fan etc, you’ll also like Blenda very much. Most of the models are probably in their 20’s but they definitely are strutin with the gal look in Shibuya, Tokyo Japan! Thumbs up for Blenda.
Gold is here in Japan folks in a very big way! Probably the most popular color is gold and you can see it in all the accessories the gals are wearing around Shibuya 109, Tokyo Japan. Silver has always been a long time winner, but for now, Gold is the color of choice for just about everything. In the photo below, you can see Gold tans, hair pieces, earrings, handbags, etc. are plainly displayed. Dark Golden tans are very popular over the milky white skin color of the past. Maybe we’ll see a little comeback with the Manbas since tans are back. In addition, the Marlo Thomas “That Girl” look is very huge with the big hair, extensions, and bands hold everything together as in the picture. This sytle of course fits in well with the rich glam look that many Japanese gals are shooting for this summer 2006 in and around Shibuya 109! Japan won only one Gold Medal in the Winter Olympics this year in women’s figure skating, so I suppose the gals here want more!!
Reiko Ikeda is sporting the latest Shibuya 109 trends in a recent issue of Blenda magazine. Of course there are numerous trends going on so if you are gal interested in other fashions, not to worry, they are all there. However, one of the latest trends has to deal with the keyword “glam” or “glamorous”. It’s hard to say what is causing this trend, but you can see in the picture below several key points. First large colored sun glasses are very popular. Long colored hair extensions are also continuing to be popular in the Shibuya area. One piece “mini” dresses are probably the biggest trend now in all sorts of styles. Colorful mini dresses can be seen in nylon, polyester,or cotton styles that stretch to fit. Most places like online Anap stores only sell these dresses as one size fits all. So you can see they are made to show your curves. Lots of accessories, long nails, and belts are used to round off the look. Whether this fits our traditional sense of glamour can be debated, but no one can deny that the glam and sexy are still the things to strive for here in Shibuya, Tokyo Japan! Glam Gals 2006!
