80s Bodycon Boom Boom Boom - Shibuya 109 Gals
As the title states, there is a bit of an 80`s boom happening in fashion around Shibuya 109 and Tokyo. Bodyconsious or Bodycon in Japan was very popular in the 80`s made evident by such clubs as Juliannas. Bodycon is simply wearing as little as possible while at the same time wearing your clothes skin tight. In the photo below taken from the November issue of Blenda magazine in Japan, you`ll see some of the classic characteristics of the 80`s Bodycon style with the tight knit mini-dresses, belts, and boots. Knee high and over the knee boots were not as popular during the Bodycon 80`s, but rather high heeled pumps. However, boots seem to be the prefered choice of footwear this season. The pumps are emerging though, but they may not last long, who knows. We`ll know that come Spring. What will be interesting is to see how far this Bodycon comeback goes. Already I`m seeing other characterisics of the Bodycon style with the bright colors coming out such as yellows, purples, pinks, and reds. Plus you see more full bodied hair styles and perms. In addition, the wide use of large gold accessories such as belts, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings are all making a comeback. It will also be interesting to see if any new clubs like Juliannas pop up as well. Stay tuned as I`m sure I`ll be revisiting this topic again soon.
