In my earlier post below I mentioned that Koda Kumi made the front cover of the January 2007 issue of Popteen magazine in Japan. For December 2006 it was Ayumi Hamasaki. It is no surprise that all three, Mariah Carey, Koda Kumi, and Ayumi Hamasaki are the three gals of Christmas and New Years this year for Japan. Usually Namie Amuro makes the cut, but recently she hasn’t been as popular.

On a Shibuya Gal fashion note, you will notice that Ayumi is sporting some pretty fine Rhinestone Jewelry. This is very popular with the gals in Shibuya at the moment. Gold Jewelry continues to be popular as well, especially if the jewelry is big and clunky much like Hip Hop or Bling style. You might say that looking rich and glamorous is what it’s all about during this time of the year. Rhinestones have proven to be a very effective fashion alternative to diamonds especially when you can buy rings, bracelets, necklaces, hair pins, watches, earrings, etc all in rhinestone at the fraction it costs for diamonds. Of course nothing can replace diamonds, but it sure is fun to try.
