Shibuya 109 Floor Guide English Version
Yesterday I visited Shibuya 109 and noticed they had some English information about the building. I scanned in the entire booklet and have posted it here. Inside are maps, store names, phone numbers, english and japanese language information, and more. I will also be posting other booklets like the “Shibuya 109 Limited Catalogue Winter Edition” and the “Shibuya 109 Press” which are all in English as well. File names reflect the page numbers, so if a file name is 11-4.jpg, then that means pages 11 and 4 are in the file. Enjoy!
Lovin’ that Shibuya 109 Sexy Style!
Here is the latest trend in Shibuya 109 for summer 2007. You can see the dress is very short and tight much like the bodycon craze of the 1980’s in Japan. Colors are also a bit brighter. Nails and nail art are very big as always too. You will see that high heels are still mainstream in Shibuya and this gal is sporting the latest trend with thigh high or over the knee stockings. Some shibuya gals are even attaching garters to their skirts and stockings for that ultra sexy street lingerie look that is hitting Shibuya 109 now. Big gold jewelry is still very popular influenced by the Japanese B-gals and other styles. Long hair with extensions is still very popular. I don’t see that much short hair around Shibuya 109 Japan. You will also see that sleeves are popular with some outfits. I assume as it gets hotter in Japan, that the sleeves will disappear. We’ll see. Definitely everything is stretch, tight, and very “mini”. The gals are looking good in Shibuya Japan and they very much in the mood as always to show their sexy stuff! Egg Model Eleven
Here is the February Cover of the popular Egg Magazine in Japan. Inside are more of the same in regards to Winter Fashion this year in Japan which includes over the knee boots, miniskirts, short dresses, and large gold/silver necklaces. I actually didn’t see anything all that different from the previous couple of issues, however, I did notice one really big thing. More and more of the Japanese models in all of the fashion magazines I acquire are starting to go blonde!! Yes that’s right! Blonde hair on Japanese gals is becoming very popular now. Now since I work around the hair fashion industry here in Japan, I decided to ask around about this. Sure enough, many of the hair stylists claim that newer hair colors have allowed a more natural blonde look for Japanese gals.
I also know that many Japanese gal friends that I’ve known over the years have expressed an interest in one way or another in trying to have blonde hair. However, they were not confident in the hair color “technology” of the time so they elected to wait. I remember when I first came to Japan back in 1993, that many gals had this really bad looking orange hair. At that time, the blonde hair colors at the hair salon were not very good. Now it seems by looking at the Shibuya gals in this months fashion magazines that the blonde hairstyles are looking pretty hot! It’s been long understood by many fashion people that I know that once this blonde hair look becomes perfected, you can expect to see a lot of Japanese girls sporting blonde or a very light colored brown hair.
Mariah Carey - Blenda Japan
Mariah Carey continues to be the icon Christmas gal in Shibuya 109 Japan. This year 2006 is no exception with her latest cover shot and article in Blenda on sale all over Japan. I think Mariah’s albums and image do very well in Japan during the Holiday season. She is a huge icon to many young and older Japanese gals alike that never seems to fade.
Shibuya 109 Christmas Gal
Christmas Eve is probably THE most important day for a Shibuya 109 Gal. This is very evident by all of the intense shopping and guy hunting these gals do in order to ensure they are not alone on the most important day of the year.. Christmas Eve. This of course may be true of all girls and guys, but I`ve never seen more intesity than in the faces and eyes of most gals I meet around the shops in Shibuya, Tokyo. Around this time, the shops are extremely busy including hair salons, nail salons, and specialty brand gift shops like Chanel, Gucci, etc. Not to mention, the Love Hotels, Restaurants, and Movie theaters are jam packed on and around this day as well. There are four very important phases of the Shibuya gal Christmas Eve experience.
Morning - This is backstage time where Japanese guys and gals are busy preparing for the big day ahead. I can only imagine the number of hairspray cans that are used on this day, not to mention the loads of perfume, makeup, cologne, etc. There`s always a sweet smell in the air on Christmas Eve morning in Shibuya 109 Tokyo!
Afternoon - This is the activity or the event that the guy presents to his gal. Many will go to some Christmas festival, shopping, see a movie, walk around the park, etc. There are numerous events on this day so planning early is essential and the more romantic the better. Guys must have plan on this day so do your homework and get it right. Shibuya gals love to compare about who is doing what, so you want to impress here and above all it must be romantic.
Evening - The dinner is the most important time I think. It`s critical to the Shibuya 109 Gal, so guys make sure you get that reservation in place and don`t screw it up. You do not want to be one of the many couples standing in line waiting for the smart ones who got a reservation beforehand first. A Shibuya gal will definitely crank up the sex appeal and charm if she gets to go ahead of the line.
The dinner is where promises are made, that special gift is exchanged, and where everyone looks around comparing their guy or gal to one another. It`s funny to watch everyone doing the same thing, but interestingly enough, this is what they all do. The Shibuya Gals look absolutely sexy and stunning during this time and believe me they have invested a lot of time and money into their look, so it`s absolutely essential that guys give them space to show their stuff and take pride. Again, I stress, never screw up the dinner reservation. They will no doubt dump you very quickly because it`s probably the most important day of the year.
Night - This is where many couples hit the love hotels or equivalent. Some will check out the dance clubs, but overnight stays at the hotels start from 10:00 PM, so going early is what they usually do, otherwise you may find yourself at 1:00 in the morning looking for a place to stay. You do not want your gal walking around in high heels and miniskirt or dress out in the cold because you elected to dance instead of getting proper hotel roomkeys. You cannot get reservations at a love hotel. They are first come first serve, so again guys need to pay attention and get those rooms asap. If you are out there dragging your gal around the dance clubs, you might also want to rethink your priorities. Chrismas eve is a time of romance and intimacy in Japan so finding privacy is essential rather than public hoo haw places. Take your gal out dancing on New Years Eve in Japan, that`s the time to party and dance.
Again, my advice to the guys is to call it an early night and get a great room. Note you usually can`t leave the room once paid for, so you need to get your stuff together before you enter. ( Some have exceptions, but most frown upon people coming and going ). The Love Hotels are awesome so enjoy!
Finally in the morning..go slow and check out many of the excellent coffee shops in Shibuya. You`ll no doubt be seeing all the other couples half awake drinking coffee and chatting away. Most likely it will be a beautiful sunny day!
Girl2go - The current Shibuya 109 gal look!
This photo was taken from the latest December issue of Egg Magazine in Japan which is a popular fashion magazine for young gals in Japan. Most of the gals photographed in the magazine are photographed in and around the infamous Shibuya 109 shopping center in Tokyo, Japan. Shibuya 109 is the Japanese Fashion Gal center of the world no doubt. For guys, it`s pure eye candy and a must see if you are ever in town. You won`t see anything quite like it especially if you visit during any exciting fashion trend.
So, what are the Shibuya gals doing now? Well, lots of things and they certainly have lots of looks. The photo below depicts what they are wearing of late. Over the knee boots are probably the biggest thing now. They cost over two hundred dollars for most popular pairs of knee high or over the knee boots and it`s quite common for gals to have 2 or 3 pairs of them. Most notably popular are the shiny types as you see in the photograph. It gets cold in Japan and with the arrival of the micro miniskirt and hotpants, I think the gals are going longer with the boots to stay warm.
You`ll also see plenty of colors ranging from yellows, purples, pinks, whites, reds, etc which is very common with the Shibuya 109 Gal. Hair, nails, makeup, and tans are also very popular however, the excessive makeup made popular by the Manba Gal has somewhat taken a break. It`s still there and in my opinion will always have a place in Shibuya, but the trend at the moment is more centered on the boots and tight clothing rather than the makeup and hair. However, for the Shibuya Gal it`s all about the complete package and not one particular thing, so you`ll definitely see them doing there best to incorporate all areas of the look as much as possible.
You will also notice more long sweaters and longer trenchcoats as the Winter season approaches. Why the long coats?? Well for one it does get colder and it`s a pain in the neck driving in Tokyo, so many of these gals have to walk the streets or catch the trains. Another important reason is the fact that when I say miniskirts, I mean extremely short skirts. Most gals in Japan wear T-backs and so if they climb the stairs in the train station or ride the escalator, they most surely will reveal their underside, so it`s a must that they have some way to cover up. Many will simply use their hands, handbags, or their boyfriend to stand behind them. Those stairs are steep and believe it or not, there are actually guys who stand at the bottom waiting for gals to forget they have to cover up.
To the guys..if you want a great view you have to actually get into the Shibuya 109 stores and shop with the gals. This is extremely hard to do if you don`t have a Japanese Gal yourself because Japanese men do not usually enter the stores, but rather stay outside the shop and wait. I find this to be insane because it is so much fun hanging out inside the stores with your girlfriend ( in my case my wife ), and talking with all the staff. It is so funny to see all the Shibuya Gals walking into the store with long coats on and suddenly taking them off as they enter the shops. There`s a huge rush of confidence, excitement, and fun that fills the air for these gals of all ages inside Shibuya 109. So do check it out and definitely bring your own gal. That`s important!
Micro Miniskirts at Shibuya 109 Gals!
Micro Minis are back and they are very popular around the Tokyo, Shibuya city area. This is one of many shots from the November 2006 issue of Nuts magazine. I have quite a few other magazines like Egg, Cawaii, and Ranzuki from this month and they are all showing the same thing. Mini shorts or hotpants, micro miniskirts, and micro mini-dresses are all very popular. So how do the Shibuya 109 Gals get away with showing so much? Well here are a few pointers from a guy who has a gal who listened to a few tricks of the trade.
First, you have to mingle with others in a similar crowd. I mean if many gals are walking around sporting micro minis than it`s much easier of course to join the group. At least that`s what most Japanese gals think. If you have the charisma and confidence to go do it alone that is fine too. As you should all know by now, anything goes in Japan.
Second, to fight the cold and initial jitters of wearing a micro miniskirt, put on a nice fashionable trench coat to cover up when outside. You will get hot when shopping in Shibuya 109 or some other shop, but that`s ok. You can simply take off the jacket, drape it over your arm and cover one side of your body.
Third, is to be sexy and confident. If you worry about what you wear, how you look, or whether people are staring at you or not, it will most certainly show. Most gals I see in Shibuya 109 couldn`t care less about what people think. They love the look, fashion, shopping, and just plain having fun. Thus they just move on and have fun.
Finally, it doesn`t hurt I`ve been told to have a nice looking guy to hang on to. Many Japanese girls I`ve met said they could wear just about anything, no matter how sexy, short, or whatever, if they had a nice looking guy clinging next to them. For some reason, many Shibuya 109 Gals feel secure and more confident with a hot guy next to them. Thus you`ll often see the guy dressed in black walking casually with his gal looking pretty proud I might add. It`s funny but true.
Or … just mingle with the other sexy gals in the shops. That seems to work too.

Gold Rush in Japan!
Gold is here in Japan folks in a very big way! Probably the most popular color is gold and you can see it in all the accessories the gals are wearing around Shibuya 109, Tokyo Japan. Silver has always been a long time winner, but for now, Gold is the color of choice for just about everything. In the photo below, you can see Gold tans, hair pieces, earrings, handbags, etc. are plainly displayed. Dark Golden tans are very popular over the milky white skin color of the past. Maybe we’ll see a little comeback with the Manbas since tans are back. In addition, the Marlo Thomas “That Girl” look is very huge with the big hair, extensions, and bands hold everything together as in the picture. This sytle of course fits in well with the rich glam look that many Japanese gals are shooting for this summer 2006 in and around Shibuya 109! Japan won only one Gold Medal in the Winter Olympics this year in women’s figure skating, so I suppose the gals here want more!!
