The lastest January 2009 issue of EGG Japan features Egg Model Rumi. This is the second part of her feature thus the issue subtitles Chapter 02. This issue also highlights “The Kireime Black Style” and the 2009 Tokyo Gal Trends. There are also the final results of the Tokyo Street Groove of the Year 2008 from all of the previous EGG issues. In addition, Kaoru has a special feature titled “My Life - Kaoru Global Fashion in Kyoto Japan. Finally there is a “Romikana Beauty” Special inside. There are some really great photos in this issue although sightly smaller in size compared to previous issues. The cover is quite sexy I think. Happie Nuts Japan has a jammed packed January 2009 issue which hit stands across Japan last week. Happie Nuts is becoming one of the best Shibuya 109 Gal magazines out there and this issue packs a pretty big punch. Half of the magazine is devoted to Christmas events and Japanese Gal fashion because this is THE BIGGEST time of the year for Shibuya gals. The other part is about Winter fashion and what we can expect…mainly over the knee boots, short miniskirts, sweater one piece dresses, and fur coats. Black is still the hot color right now, but pink is becoming big too. In addition, animal prints are very popular appearing in all garments from shoes, dresses, to shirts and jackets. The December issue of Nuts Japan 2008 is now out in stores in the Tokyo area. There is a full spread in this issue titled “The Sexiest Everything” Winter 2008 Lip Service. This slogan pretty much says it all with respect to the Japan Winter 2009 Fashion lineup. Whether it’s boots, dresses, accessories, hair styles, or makeup, the trend is “Sexiest Everything”. Obviously this is a play on Japanese English in a sense, but it does characterize well the direction of Gal fashion. I noticed that the colors black and purple seem to be very popular.

There also seems to be some debate going on about what should be elegant and what is casual. The Cover title of Nuts Japan says “Black Casual Lover”. Nuts is trying to show the latest black casual trends which I must say are not that appealing. Thankfully they only spent a few pages on the subject and then got back to the real Gal trends going which are both elegant and sexy. Like last month, the December issue is EXCELLENT!! Traditional Japanese Bride attending a wedding ceremony at Zenkoji, Temple in Nagano city Japan. This type of wedding is extremely expensive in Japan as everything is based on tradition. Nowadays, western style weddings are more popular, but occasionally you’ll see this type walking to or from a famous temple in Japan.

This was from a test photoshoot for Magee Salon with Model Aya. We were taking shots of hair extensions to be used in Magee Salon photo brochures. This is a grunged up version of a shot that I kind of liked. Hair design was done by my wife Yoyo Miyazawa.
